Chechnya: struggle with unemployment

At the end of the previous year the Chechen authorities announced that their main priority was to reduce unemployment by 15 per cent. In 2010 the unemployment level was reduced from 45 per cent to 40 per cent, in 2011 officials are going to take certain measures so that it will only be 20 per cent. This was announced by the head of the republic.

Total investment in the republic now constitutes 30 billion rubles. The head of the republic hopes that this sum will be increased by 20 billion during 2011. The money is used mainly to create new jobs; this means establishing new enterprises.

For instance, a new canning factory is ready to start operating in Gudermes. Here various juices and marinades will be produced. The main products will made from tomatoes. In addition to this, production of sugar beet will be supported by the local authorities. Reconstruction of a dairy plant has already begun. Dairy products of high quality will be produced here.

A special program was launched by the Chechen government in order to promote Chechen products so that they will be bought outside Chechnya.
