These measures are required in order to reduce operational expenditures and optimize
the management system, resulting in a reduction in the cost of gas. To realize all these aims geological exploration is being carried out and
more than 700 million roubles has already been spent on this. The Premier said it was important to intensify work in this sphere. He also touched on the problems of safety - the observance of construction norms and improvement of anti-terrorism measures. The leading gas-and-oil company of Dagestan "Gazprom Transgas Makhachkala" hosted the meeting. It owns more than 1600 km of pipelines. The company works in the sphere of pipeline construction and gas delivery.

Railroad service overcomes crisis.

Dagestani president Magomedsalam Magomedov hosted a meeting with the head of the north Caucasus department of the Russian Railroads Company (RRC), where they discussed issues of railroad transportation development in the republic. The president said there was a reduction
in the level of rail cargo shipping operations. In 2008 the shipping rate was only 60% of the level of 2007, and the situation hasn't changed in the period January-February 2010. He considers this to be the result of the economic crisis. Vladimir Goloskov said the company has spent 386 million roubles on development of the republic's railroad infrastructure. This year the company is planning to invest 192 million roubles. Taking into consideration reform in the RRC, Goloskov proposed to pass a republican law on transportation and create a regional company. He also noted that Russian Railroads are ready to satisfy any demand for commercial transportation, providing a high-level service.
