Russia is almost ready for the Sochi Olympic Games, Vice Premier Dmitry Kozak recently announced. In fact, 130 facilities were constructed in the city and 182 are being built. The project is indeed on a large scale. 500 objects are set to be constructed altogether, including sports facilities, infrastructural objects and tourist centers.
The project will probably encourage investment in the region. Nowadays Sochi has great potential as a place of national and international tourism, but it’s developing rather slowly. The fact that the city will host the 2014 Olympic Games will enhance the city’s development, experts believe.
The organizing committee of the 2014 Olympics has decided that the Sochi Olympiad needs a special symbol. In the end, members of the committee agreed that a patchwork quilt would be a great symbol. The patchwork quilt will consist of 16 folk images of different nations of Russia. According to the plan, this patchwork will decorate all Olympic facilities in Sochi.
