According to official data, Dagestan is one of the five regions of Russia in which innovative technologies are introduced most often. In addition to this, Dagestan is far ahead all other subjects of the North Caucasus Federal District, including Stavropol Territory. 1418 out of 1661 inventions registered in the North Caucasus were made in Dagestan.
That makes Dagestan,, together with Moscow, St-Petersburg and the Tomsk and Ivanovo regions, the five regions with most active innovative development. It’s clear that not all regions can demonstrate the same level of innovative development and so all governments invest mainly in regions where innovative technologies are introduced most often. There are two such states in the USA. In Russia, three regions are believed to be the most innovative, Moscow, Tatarstan and the Tomsk region.
However, recent data shows the situation has changed. Now the North Caucasian republic of Dagestan is ahead of almost all regions of Russia, except Moscow, St-Petersburg and two others, in development of innovative technologies.
Still, investment in Dagestan is insufficient. Money spend on development of innovative technologies in the republic is less than in any other region. Perhaps the situation will change as a result of several programs that hane been launched in order to support inventors.
