The Chechen Prime Minister presented the annual report to the Chechen parliament on the results of the republic's government in the past year. According to Odes Baysultanov, in 2010 the socio-economic situation in the region was characterized by the growth of basic macroeconomic indicators. The political and criminal situation in the country has tended to improve, and in many respects is better than in Russia on average and in the South Caucasus Federal District.
The strategy of socio-economic development until 2020 has been approved. The strategy defines the basic parameters and priorities for long-term development. In the approved version of the strategy of the South Caucasus Federal District until 2025, Chechnya will host 23 investment projects in the spheres of energy, industry, agriculture and in the social sector.
The Chechen government continues to pay most attention to the agro-industrial complex, with all its post-war problems. The most important objectives are the renovation of drainage systems, clearing mines from the land and upgrading agricultural equipment.
Odes Baisultanov said that one of the priorities of the economic policy of the Chechen leadership is to improve the support mechanisms for small and medium-sized businesses. Last year the government adopted a new program to support and develop small and medium-sized businesses in the country until 2013. The national budget will allocate 480 million rubles for this purpose. The federal budget will annually allocate at least 350 million rubles for the program.
