The new Italian prime minister, Mario Monti, is a professional economist. That is why during the meetings in Moscow and Sochi he was interested in business cooperation between Moscow and Rome. The trade turnover between Italy and Russia surpassed $46 billion last year; more than 500 Italian enterprises work in Russia. The Italian company De Eccher Group will develop the territory around Moscow's Dynamo Stadium. Several months ago De Eccher signed a contract with Dynamo for construction of a complex of apartments, hotels, offices, and auxiliary infrastructure of the stadium. The deal will cost more than 500 million euros. Moreover, during the visit of the Italian delegation to Moscow an intention protocol was signed between Resorts of the North Caucasus and Rizzani De Eccher.
The document touches on cooperation in development of the tourism cluster in the NCFD, Krasnodar Territory and Adygea. It was signed by the chairman of Executive Council of Resorts of the North Caucasus, Ahmed Bilalov, and the main shareholder of Rizzani De Eccher, Claudio De Eccher. The Italians plan to invest about a billion euros in construction of commercial and hotel infrastructure of the tourism cluster.
The protocol also requires fulfilment of international environmental standards during implementation of the project. In early August RNC and Rizzani De Eccher will compose a working group for coordination of their activity and development of a mechanism of joint participation in the project of the tourism cluster.
The main problem of the project is the poor infrastructure of the North Caucasus. RNC believes that the six existing airports should be reconstructed – in Krasnodar, Maikop, Mineralnye Vody, Nalchik, Beslan, and Makhachkala – and four new airports should be built: in Derbent, Matlas, Mamison and the settlement of Zelenchukskaya.
By September 1st the federal Ministry of Transport should develop proposals on the scheme of regional aviation connection between the regions included in the NCFD.
