Road repairs
A commission to evaluate the state of the roads has been created in Chechnya. According to Abubakar Tumkhajiev, the minister of highways of the Chechen republic, Chechnya has 11 km of highways. The local authorities were recently given 450 million rubles for the repair of the roads, the minister said.
The small grants contest
In the framework of the UN’s Children Foundation and the World Bank joint program, the Government of Chechnya has declared a contest for young entrepreneurs , the winners of which will get grants for the development of small businesses.
Reform of the Railways
The Grozny branch of the North Caucasus" Railways is being reformed. The reorganization will not lead to staff reductions. Moreover the local authorities are planning to shorten the time spent by passengers on journeys and introduce new routes.
New air-route
A new air-route was introduced by the "Grozny Airlines" company. This route connects Chechnya and Turkey. The first flight was from Grozny to Istanbul and the next, the CEO of "Grozny Airlines" said, will be to Antalya.
Migration boom
According to the federal service of migration in the republic of Chechnya 1,726 migrants came to the region in the first half of 2010, which is almost equal to the total amount of migrants in 2009.
