However, there are fears that it will lay its hands on the country's wealth
As a result of President Medvedev’s recent visit to Yerevan, Russia and Armenia have signed several cooperation agreements. The two countries will collaborate in the spheres of defence and the economy. Russia will take part in the construction of a new railroad and an atomic power station in Armenia and to establish a new trade mission in the country.
According the head of “Rosatom”, former Russian prime minister Sergey Kirienko, the Russian Federation is ready to finance 20% of the construction of the new power plant. At first the Armenian party suggested that Russia finance 60%.
However, Armenian residents are growing worried that Russia will lay its hand on the country’s wealth, in spite of the fact that the USA, Germany and other countries also invest in Armenia, Russia still remains the most influential investor.
