The Chinese Sichuan Airlines has recently launched flights on the Chengdu-Moscow route. It is the first direct air route between Southwestern China and the capital of Russia. Due to the new flights, the time spent reaching southwestern regions of China from Moscow has reduced by 5 hours. Tourists from Moscow can fly through Chengdu (where a 72-hour visa-free regime operates for transit foreign passengers) to Melbourne, Phuket and Sanja, while Chinese passengers can fly through Moscow to Northern and Eastern Europe.
The flight is also convenient for people who do business. Russia and China always stress that this direction of cooperation has great potential.

In January-December 2014 the trade turnover between Russia and Chengdu grew by 19%, up to $937.07 million, including exports from Chengdu to Russia of $882.7 million (14 percent growth) and exports from Russia of $54.4 million (triple growth).
In January-March 2015 the trade turnover between Russia and Chengdu decreased by 54% down to $110 million, including exports from Chengdu of $109 million (53 percent decrease) and exports from Russia of $650 thousand (84 percent decrease).

Russian-Chinese partnership
In January 2001 the Russian and Chinese sides organized the Wood Russian-Chinese Friendly Trade Ya-Ya with a registered capital of $1.5 million. The main activity was wood processing and sales.
In February 2004 the Sichuan company of the Corporation Haitae and the Russian founder established the Corporation of Aircraft Technologies in Russia and the Dunhae Company. But in August 2011 these two companies were liquidated. In June 2008 the Tomsk Wood Processing Industry was founded. It deals with wood processing and importing and exporting operations. Its registered capital is $4 million: the Chinese side invested $1.96 million.
In 2014 the Sichuan importing and exporting company ‘West Forest’, founded the Partner Agricultural Park Chuvashia-Sichuan in Russia. It dealt with construction of the agricultural and industrial park; $260 million was invested in the project, including $130 million in investments from China.

The turnover of the engineering company of Chengdu Lunchzhixuan was $740 thousand in 2014 in Russia. Experts of the company were sent to places of engineering works 59 times. In January-March 2015, the profit of the company was $290 thousand. The staff weren’t sent to manage projects.
The Seventh Chinese Construction Projecting Chemical Company is successfully implementing several projects in Russia, for example, the turnover of the company in 2014 was $78.5 million. Experts of the company were sent to places of projecting works 265 times. The turnover in January-March 2015 was $12.7 million. The staff weren’t sent to manage projects.
