Yevkurov to reject large subsidies

The head of Ingushetia, Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, recently addressed the National Assembly of the Republic and stated the main objectives ofthe republic for the next year: to abandon subsidies and become a self-sufficient region. According to Yevkurov, achievement of this task will be possible through using the potential of small- and medium-sized businesses, as well as industry and agriculture.

Yevkurov noted that the present structure in the republic, of economic sectors oriented towards raw-material production, is imperfect. Healso stressed the poor development of the transport network, particularly a largely inactive railway system. Ingushetia entered the market at a time when the vast majority of enterprises wereunprofitable and subsidized from the republic's budget, while the losses were written off. Therefore, the budget of Ingushetia has a very low percentage of income. The priorities of the Ingush government for 2011-2013 regarding fiscal policy will remain the same and will be aimed at creating an efficient tax system.

Among the priorities in the field of economics are the optimization of state-owned unitary enterprises through their liquidation, reorganization or consolidation.
