Deputies of the North Ossetian parliament have addressed the chairman of the State Duma of Russia, Boris Gryzlov, concerning the "extremist" statements of the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, and his son Igor Lebedev. Ph.D. of history, professor Ruslan Bzarov stated that “it is absolutely naïve, politicized, futureless for nonsense Russian interests .” Incitement to ethnic hatred can lead to uncontrolled processes.
The deputy head mufti of North Ossetia, Hadjimurat Gatsalov, said that “nationalism can destroy any even a very small republic, and as for a big country, the consequences would be tragic. I suppose that Zhirinovsky ran off as a politician, he is not interesting for voters any more, that is why he became a nationalist.”
The deputy of the parliament of North Ossetia and leader of the regional branch of the Communist Party of Russia, Kazbek Taisayev, believes that Zhirinovsky "only pretends that he is for Russians, for the poor, but that in reality he has never voted for Russians or for the poor. It is not right to behave this way. It is simply a provocation.”
Meanwhile, the leader of the regional department of the LDPR, Grigory Zozrov, stated: “He just said that if Russians live well, everyone will live well.”
People representing the major voices of the North Ossetian population agreed that incitement to xenophobia on the back of the Domodedovo tragedy and the Manezhnaya Square events will spread fear and mutual mistrust. What should Russians who live in North Caucasian republics do? Move to the capital?
