The second Russian-Azerbaijani inter-regional Forum "Russia - Azerbaijan: towards new horizons of inter-regional cooperation" opened on Thursday in Astrakhan. It was organized by the Development Institute of Eurasian Studies with the support of the Administrations of Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan. The forum was attended by representatives of central and regional authorities, business circles and non-governmental organizations of the both countries.
The second Russian-Azerbaijani forum was organized at high level and managed to become a constructive platform for dialogues between the two countries, said the participant of the forum "Russia-Azerbaijan: towards new horizons of inter-regional cooperation," the editor-in-chief of Vestnik Kavkaza, member of the advisory council of Trend Alexei Vlasov. "The two days of the forum were full of discussions on joint projects, meetings of experts and managers, open and respectful debates on issues of bilateral relations. Both sides have demonstrated extremely constructive approaches in all areas of interaction - economics, politics and innovation." Especially interesting for the Russian political analyst was the round table on problems of interaction in the Caspian Sea with the participation of highly qualified experts who were able to propose detailed projects on turning the Caspian Sea into the area of peace and effective cooperation. "All the speakers noted that the interaction between Russia and Azerbaijan can establish a framework for urgent projects such as the International Center for the Study of the Caspian Sea, the Caspian Media Forum and others," - said Vlasov.
A delegation headed by the Head of the Department of Social and Political Issues of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan, Ali Hasanov, represented Azerbaijan at the forum. The delegation included representatives of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, Cabinet members, members of the Azerbaijani parliament, heads of executive authorities in a number of areas of the country, as well as businessmen. The opening of the forum was marked by congratulations to the forum participants made by Presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia, Ilham Aliyev and Dmitry Medvedev.
