Iran: Silent War

A high-ranking Israeli security official reacted to Tehran’s statement that “not a single person responsible for the deaths of our scientists can sleep peacefully any longer. We will avenge wherever they are – within our country or beyond.” “There is a good Arab saying: “If you are opening fire, be ready to be shot at too!” the official said. “Iran was the first to declare war against the international community, as reflected in its political statements and refusal to abandon development of nuclear weapons,” he says.

The official noted that Iran has made both successful and failed assassination attempts against foreign politicians and diplomats and its own public figures of opposition. The latest attempt was against the Saudi Arabian ambassador to the US. Assassinations of Iranian nuclear figures is part of economic sanctions and the so-called Silent War to prevent mass military intervention.

Any murders in response to the assassinations of Iranian nuclear specialists, the source says, would provoke more condemnation and isolation of Iran in the international arena. “The world would not criticize Iran if it strikes against those behind the order or developing operations to eliminate nuclear specialists. But Iran’s accusations would not be followed only if it shows the decisive truth of its accusations. No one has taken responsibility for the assassination attempts and Iran has found no evidence,” the Israeli security official said.
