Dempsey was warned

Commenting on US General Martin Dempsey’s visit to Israel, local media cite Sandy Times as saying that the Israeli government warned its guest that Washington would be informed about attack on Iran 12 prior to the strike.

The Israelis obviously understand that it is a common local media trick: all publications regarding the Israeli forces are controlled by military censorship, unlike foreign press. Moreover, Israeli journalists often “leak” information to foreign media to republish it in own press. Thus, the possibility of the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff’s receiving such answer, published by Sandy Times, is very high.

Sandy Times also reported that controversies around attack on Iran between Israel and the US during Dempsey’s visit became tenser. The biggest complications occurred, as the paper reports, during the talks between Dempsey and Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

President Barack Obama said that his administration would consider any solutions to the problem. Israeli experts say that he does not want a military operation because an attack on Iran would cause increase of oil prices. The US leader believes that such steps are inappropriate during the presidential campaign.

Israel’s readiness to warn the US about a military strike on Iran 12 hours ahead was a necessary response to the president’s dubious position. Any military analyst would say that if actions will follow the scenario, the US have little time to prevent Israel from realizing the plans.

Therefore, the Israeli authorities decided to take responsibility for repercussions of the strike. In a conversation with the author of this article, a high-ranking Israeli official said that it is crucial decisions, but talks on the strike on Iran itself have not been scheduled for the upcoming 2-3 months.
