Chechen authorities and public figures support Vladimir Putin's candidacy at the presidential elections. The officials' main goal is to secure a high turnout at Sunday's polls.
The Chechen Labour Unions' Council is among other bodies supporting Putin's candidacy. Representatives of the council have met with the republic's officials in order to discuss the presidential elections. Labour unions say they collected 32 thousand signatures supporting Putin's nomination.
Putin's authorized representative, Khusseyn Soltagereyev, underlines that Putin is Chechnya's major advocate. It was Putin who officially supported Ahmad Kadyrov and who now supports Ramzan Kadyrov. It is Putin who is the main sponsor of the development and investment programs being implemented in the republic, Soltagereyev says.
Chechen ombudsman Nurdi Nukhaziyev says that Chechens vote for Putin and his United Russia party because of their true political preferences. There is no administrative pressure on voters, the ombudsman believes.
The republic's deputy parliamentary speaker, Idris Usmanov, also underlines that Putin's is a keen supporter of the investment programs aiming to improve Chechnya's economic and social situation.
