Turkey as an object of investigation

Turkey as an object of investigation
In connection with the current changes in the Middle East, the Military Intelligence Directorate of IDF (Aman) has decided to expand the number of its departments and to create seven new units, each of which will deal with one specific country or issue. Among those countries are Sudan, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Turkey, and the Sinai Peninsula. The last two positions of the list are certainly the most interesting ones.

Israel has never considered Turkey as an object of investigation before. This is understandable: and the armies and intelligence agencies of the two countries have worked very closely for decades, and if they had secret information, it was common for them (for instance, the plan of the strike on the nuclear reactor under construction in Syria; Turkish military controllers directed Israeli pilots to the target). However, the situation has changed, many of the old relations are broken and now Aman sees in Turkey not a potential enemy but a possible ally of the enemy. Thus, the main task of the new "Turkish department" is to predict the behavior of the military and political leadership of Turkey in case of another war in the Middle East, in particular, the degree of its intervention in the war, the help to the opponents of Israel by arms supplies, etc. "Unfortunately, concerning Turkey, today we can not be absolutely sure of anything. And, of course, we can no longer trust the Turks! "- a senior Israeli army officer told VK.

As for the Sinai Peninsula, the need for a separate unit for it is clear. According to the leaders of Aman, Egypt has finally lost control of the territory in recent months; in fact, the territory is ruled by Bedouins and Islamic terrorist organizations. If Bedouins specialize in smuggling drugs, guns and prostitutes to Israel and also help to migrants from Sudan and Eritrea, to infiltrate into Israeli territory, the terrorists, in contrast, have repeatedly used the Sinai as a springboard for attacks on Eilat, the most southern city of Israel, and on nearby highways.

The sources in Aman emphasize that the subject is certainly not sending intelligence men to the above-mentioned countries. The observation of the current events there will be carried out by means of new technologies, continuous monitoring of media, including radio and TV, and other similar methods.
