"The plan of establishing an arc of instability faced Syria"

The flagship of the Baltic Fleet "Kaliningrad" is undertaking a far trek to the east of the Mediterranean Sea, a source in the Baltic Fleet told Interfax. The term of the trip depends on the situation over Syria to which "Kaliningrad" is heading. In case of a critical situation or a threat to Russian citizens living there, they will be evacuated from the country by means of air and sea transport.

Meanwhile, the vice president of the Academy of geopolitical problems, Vladimir Anokhin, thinks that "the plan of establishing an arc of instability which would pass all over the Arab world with accession to the South Caucasus, Azerbaijan, and Iran is restrained. It has faced Syria. It is like to step on a rusty nail, which leads to blood poisoning, gangrene, and amputation. As for chemical armament, the American diplomacy thinks that there are no limits in politics and stupidity. Assad will never use weapon against his people. Look at all negotiations in the Arab world - Libya held out for six months, I not mention Tunisia because it is weak, but Syria is holding out still, since March 2011. If people were against their authorities, could they hold out for so long? It is clear that this is a war between bastards from all over the world, who are decorated with guns and covered with money, and the Syrian people. When human rights organizations and the West say that Assad uses severe measures against rebels, I want to ask them: if these guys with guns, grenade launchers attacked your cities, exploded buses with your children, shot hospitals where your mother stayed or cut off your father's head, where would you run to protect yourself? Probably, you would use power and army.

There is a struggle between the Syrian nation and bandits who cross the borders. I think information which is provided by the mass media confirms that bandit groups are failing. Previously, during a half of a year we heard that here and there territories are captured in Syria, but now interesting vacuum appears. Nobody speaks about rebels' victories. I conclude that the military aspect of the conflict is shifting in favor of the Syrian army. As for other statements on chemical armament, it is a search for political support of the opposition. The National Coalition of the opposition is being formed somewhere abroad. I could understand if they took over power and established their control in some province within Syria. But when it happens somewhere else, when people have no power, but they are recognized as the only power, it means a political crisis in the West toward the situation. We see global shifts in the geopolitical world. We are watching destruction of the whole system of international affairs."

Commenting of Turkey's decision to launch the missile defense complexes "Patriot", Anokhin stated: "Turks react slowly at the developments. I don't mean militant camps, as on the background of 100 thousand refugees it is possible to train terrorists, but it doesn't mean Turks intensively influence the process of forming militant groups. "Patriots" are involvements of the Western NATO countries into the process which is happening at the Turkish-Syrian border. It is stupid to think that the Syrian army will attack a neighboring state with 670 thousand well prepared soldiers within a civil war. I believe at the new base with "Patriots" Americans, Belgians, Germans will work, and any provocation will make the West improve its forces in Syria for protection of these states. There is also an opinion that "Patriots" will be used for interception of Iranian missiles. It is probably a reasonable view, but it isn't connected with Syria. It is wrong to think that Assad lives his last days. I don't think NATO will be involved in the adventure."

The head of the Institute of Geopolitical Studies Leonid Ivashov agrees with Anokhin: "The American plan of destroying the Syrian state has failed. Here we should take examples from history. Hitler though out various reasons and arguments for attacking Poland. The same reasons are being invented today. Any prepared aggression needs motivation. The plan on Syria has failed, just like the blitzkrieg against the USSR failed many decades ago. We shouldn't forget about Russia's veto. Russia didn't obey in the Security Council of the UN for the first time. It provides independent policy. China supports us. To pass by the veto by Russia and China, the Security Council is trying to find various reasons for starting a war. We hope Russia will be firm, as well as China and the international society in general. Violence which would lead to collapse off Syria, other countries, suppression of their independence, providing pro-Western elites will continue all over the world."
