The head of the Israeli Institute of Studying National Security, the former head of Defense Intelligence of the Israeli Defense Forces, Amos Yadlin, made a sensational statement that only 4-6 months are left before Iran creates a nuclear bomb.
According to Yadlin, in this context the question on a strike on Iranian nuclear facilities will arise in the nearest future – right after the formation of the new government of Israel. Yadlin states that according to experts at his Institute, if Israel launched “a surgical strike” which leads to destruction of uranium enrichment factories, but the number of casualties is minimal, the reaction of Iran will be moderate and won’t lead to a wider war in the Middle East.
However, one of the main conditions for prevention of such a war is peacemaking between Israel and Turkey, according to Yadlin. He believes that Israel should sacrifice its pride and even common sense and accept Turkey’s conditions.
It is interesting that the same point of view has been recently expressed by Avi Benajagu, the former advisor of the Defense Ministry and one of the most important military observers of Israel. Benajagu put peacemaking with Turkey to the first place among priorities of Israeli foreign policy after the elections.
“I don’t mean returning the times when we were welcomed in Ankara and Istanbul as dear guests and we had a feeling that we talked to our brothers. Perhaps it is impossible. But it is necessary to get rid of the conflict. Only in this case we could move forward. No friendly relations with other Muslim countries are able to replace Turkey for us. Turkey is a military, political, and economic regional superpower, and it is stupid to deny this fact,” Benajagu wrote.
