Iran became a regional superpower

Last week, John Kerry in his first press conference as Secretary of State said that if Iran continues to expand its nuclear program, new sanctions will be adopted against it. If the Iranian authorities at the upcoming meeting of the Group of Six in Kazakhstan on February 25 will provide a clear account of the nuclear program, the U.S. will be ready for a diplomatic solution. Earlier, Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei refused to participate in direct bilateral talks with the United States. Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Seyed Mahmoud Reza Sajjadi clarified the position of Tehran absorbing in its history - yesterday, the main national holiday - the anniversary of the Islamic revolution – began in Iran. Exactly 34 years ago monarchy was abolished in the country.

According to Mr. Sajjadi, before the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the Iranians wanted to make two additional revolutions, but they had a success only in 1978: “Foreign countries interfered in our internal affairs. The reason was that the Shah of Iran put at the disposal of the United States the entire Iranian state, despite the fact that Iran is not a colony. Iran was really considered to be an independent country, but it was very difficult to survive the insult by America against our people. 50,000 U.S. advisers were in Iran at the time, and they controlled the Iranian economy, the Iranian army and interfered in our religious traditions and insulted them… Our state was ordered to supply to the U.S. and its allies cheap oil and to become an American policeman to preserve U.S. interests in the region.

34 years ago, the third revolution won a final victory. During this time, the U.S. has been constantly striving to overthrow the regime in Iran. After the revolution, we were busy with the elimination of dissidents, terrorist organizations, and identified other groups who wanted to overthrow the new regime in Iran. Therefore, 16,000 killed people in Iran are the result of terrorist attacks. This suggests that Iran is the main victim of terrorism.

Then the United States encouraged Saddam Hussein to attack Iran at a time when it was only the first days of the revolution. They incited the longest war of the 20th century, when there were various sanctions against Iran, and nobody helped Iran, but Iran won the war. After the war, the Americans changed their tactics and began to use a "soft war" against Iran. They started a new war - a war of sanctions and propaganda of false information against Iran. In short, they wanted to see Iran in complete isolation. At a time when women are really free in Iran, and they, along with the men, take part in public life, they have charged us with violating the rights of women. At a time when all religious minorities have their own deputies in the Iranian parliament, the Majlis, they have accused us of not observing the rights of religious minorities. All this was done so that the Americans, the U.S. could once again rule the country and secure their interests in Iran.

But thanks to the efforts of our people, we can assume that Iran is now a regional superpower. Both our enemies and our friends agree that any religious issues cannot be resolved without Iran, including even international issues. It is a country which is moving in the direction of high technology. In the field of biotechnology, we have the production of various products. You've probably heard that we have recently sent a monkey into space.

After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Iran wanted to activate its cooperation with neighboring countries, particularly with our brotherly Arab states. But in those Arab countries which are oriented towards the West, towards America, leaders of which are friends with America, there is resistance to the strengthening of relations between Iran and these countries. During the rule of Hosni Mubarak we did not even have an embassy in Egypt”.

As for Iranian-American relations. Mr. Sajjadi said that “Americans want to deny us rights that were given to us and they want the whole world to believe that Iran was defeated in the negotiations. We know they have lied regarding Iraq, once they accused Iraq of having weapons of mass destruction, chemical weapons, and then there were none found. They use this method in relation to Iran as well; they accuse us of working on nuclear weapons, which is supported by no evidence.  Unfortunately, we have witnessed that America is not benevolent or honest, or it is unable to keep its word”.
