US President Barack Obama has concluded his first foreign visit to Israel after his reelection. Journalists say his position became more pro-Israeli and harsher against Iran.
On the first day of Obama’s visit Benjamin Netanyahu stated that he would like the high guest to feel at home in Jerusalem. Israeli Prime Minister said that the visit was an opportunity to discuss the Iranian nuclear program, the Syrian conflict and a settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Speaking about Iran, the Israeli leader said that Israel is able to protect itself, hinting that if the USA refuse from a military operation, Israel will undertake it by its own. Concerning Syria, Israel wants the country to remain stable and not allow chemical weapons to fall in the hands of terrorists. Israel is ready to recognize Palestine as a state and make territorial concessions, but no for the price of own security.
President Obama made an ambiguous compliment: he said that Israeli Premier has very handsome and smart sons – it is obviously the get it from mother. Obama noted that the US will always back Israel, but urged the state to make no hasty decisions about military operations in Iran. As for the Palestinian issue, Obama said that he would like not to make public statements on this problem before his meeting with the authorities of the Palestinian Autonomy.
Later couples Netanyahu and Obama had a dinner in the Jerusalem hotel “King David.” The chef of the hotel was ordered to cook food only from Israeli products. Justice Minister Tsipi Livni, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon and Knesset member Yuval Steinitz joined the evening dinner of Netanyahu and Obama. They discussed relations of Israel and Palestine and resignation of 78-year-old Mahmoud Abbas.
