Last week, the People's Assembly of Dagestan has decided to elect the head of the republic, and almost immediately the acting President Ramazan Abdullatipov at the big press conference unveiled his vision of the future development of the republic. "No one area is functioning normally. Much of what might work for the development of the country does not work”, Abdullatipov said, telling about the example of power generation, oil and gas and fishing industries. "A lot needs to be done. We have already resolved the question of “Aviaagregat”. We have obtained a loan of $ 400 million. We are solving the issue of building infrastructures. We can already begin the production of new good Chinese machinery for farmers at an average cost of 380 thousand rubles. I have already bought one machine to work at my farm”, Abdullatipov said.
According to him, "in Dagestan more than 50 million hectares of arable land are not used. Community leaders are not responsible for the production of meat, milk, etc. Therefore, the district budget is still subsidized by 80%. District leaders will report of 25 indicators developed by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic. If the head of the district each year does not replenish the district budget by at least 1%, he has nothing to do there. "
The main problems of Dagestan, according to Abdullatipov, remain tribalism, extremism and terrorism: "We're killing ourselves. On all sides our children are dying. It is clear that there will be no winners in this war... In response to my request, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia Vladimir Kolokoltchev sent to Dagestan a team of more than 20 people – firstly, to cleanse the Ministry of Internal Affairs of careless employees, and secondly, to cleanse the entire society. We have already seen this work: they’ve recently conducted successful special operation to eliminate criminal clandestine organizations, for example, in Gimry. "
Meanwhile, Alexander Yermoshkin, the permanent envoy of Dagestan under President of Russia, said in an interview to VK: “When we held a meeting with Alexander Khloponin, he said that Dagestan’s path is unique in the NCGD. Its industrial infrastructure is developed. It is true we lack state orders as the moment, and Medzhidov stated about it. One of the main goals of the envoy office is returning federal orders to the territory of Dagestan. There are many factories, but about 60 thousand m of industrial areas are empty; and our goal is to load them. Logistics of Azerbaijan passes through Dagestan, as well as Iranian cargos, we have a port. Dagestan has absolutely different potential. That is why Alexander Khloponin paid attention to the fact that development of Dagestan is not about consumption of federal resources, but investments, including from the federal center into industry, education, and infrastructure. Dagestan has to do it. The republic has great plans. Once in two weeks every minister visits federal ministries. We see support by federal ministers – they come to us and say what they need. There is maximal understanding of the necessity to rapidly develop the lagging region".
As for the plans for changing the image of the republic, Yermoshkin said: “Last week we welcomed the ambassador of Nepal in the envoy’s office. We held the event “Two mountain countries.” We are very similar to Nepal. There are about 100 ethnic groups in it; we have more than 30 ethnic groups. They are a mountain country, we either. Our temperaments are similar. At the same time, we know that there is a civil war in Nepal. In Dagestan we have no ethnic conflicts. Meanwhile, Neal is a world touristic brand, while Dagestan is not. It is partially connected with the fact that we are poorly working with the media because all information on Dagestan comes through force structures. When anything happens, they gather journalists, report to them, and all TV-channels show it. As for the other side, a huge amount of events is taking place. Recently we have held a big business exhibition. Now we are preparing an economic forum, youth events. Few people know about it. That is why three weeks ago we established the media service and gathered a pool of journalists. We hope that Russians will have clear understanding that Dagestan is an interesting republic in this sense”.
