Neo-Nazis fighting for European values in Kiev

By Vestnik Kavkaza

Yesterday “anti-protest” laws went into force in Ukraine, and Euromaidan responded with a new wave of violence. Molotov cokctails, firecrackers, and stones were thrown at the internal military forces; the police responded with noise bombs. Later, the barricades of the rebels were smashed by Ukrainian task forces Berkut, and the soldiers began to dismount obstacles and arrest rebels. At least one person was killed.

Commenting on the situation, Sergei Mikheyev, Director of the Institute of Caspian Cooperation, stated: “It seemed that Maidan began to fade away and turned into a boring circus for tourists. To revive it and preserve it as an instrument of pressure and a project, blood was needed, an aggravation, a fight, smashed heads, broken noses. All talk about European values, democracy, and so on are camouflage for the geopolitical struggle.”

The expert believes that the USA is responsible for it: “The Americans failed to make the best of a bad bargain; they show their real views on the whole situation. Their emotionalism is connected with the situation in other layers of the geopolitical game – problems of Syria, Iran, and many others. Ukraine is one of topics to bite and to achieve your aim by hook or by crook in the rivalry with Russia. The Americans are good at experiments on people, they do it systematically, skillfully and in many places, and as for Ukraine, its victims do not concern them.”

According to Mikheyev, “Ukrainian citizens are systematically destroying their own statehood. The consequences of Maidan will be negative for the Ukrainian statehood anyway; not from the Russia, American, or European points of view, but for Ukrainian interests. Everything which is happening on Maidan influences negatively Ukrainian statehood, notwithstanding, who will win or what name the president will have.”

The expert is sure that “radicals and extremists are people who want to kill. Therefore, they are similar to Wahabis or our extremists who create an idea to justify their love of violence. In this case the idea is “Hurray for Ukraine and death to enemies!” These people want bloodshed, and they got it. At the same time, the Maidan led to legitimacy of neo-Nazism, at least extremism. It is a common picture for the Ukrainian political landscape. Ukraine gave birth to a unique situation – neo-Nazis are fighting for European values. It has never happened, but we have seen such miracles now.”
