Attack on Tsentoroy

At 4.30 am on Sunday, militants attacked the home village of the Chechen leader. Ramzan Kadyrov headed the counter-terror operation himself. He said it was successful, although some militants managed to escape. They were members of the video group, who were shooting the terrorist attack. The video is considered a video account for the sponsors of the raid.

The militants  promised to publish this account on the Internet.

There is no common opinion on what the purpose of the attack was. Information on casualties still remains uncertain. Kadyrov said that the Chechen special troops were awaiting the militants and let them into the village deliberately, in order to destroy them.  However, Kadyrov regrets that the militants hit Tsentoroy and would boast of this in their video.

In his interview with “Svobodnaya pressa”(Free press) the chairman of Russian Islamic Committee Heydar Jemal  said  that the militants were linked to the Arabic organization “Islamintern”. He added that nowadays Islamists are loose in Chechnya. The expert also said that it can not be ruled out that the militants were misinformed. It is possible that they were sure that Kadyrov was absent at the moment.  However, Kadyrov knew about the prepared attack.

 In the morning of August 29 the militants were still being pursued chased by special troops. Many Chechens were outraged and wanted to pursue them too, but the law enforcement agencies didn’t admit them into the special operation zone.
The deputy mufti of Chechnya condemned the militants. Now the Muslims are celebrating the sacred month of Ramadan. It is prohibited by Islamic law to use weapons in this month.
