The Klos C ship with weapons has been intercepted by Israeli marines and taken to Israel's Port Eilat. The ship was received by authorities of the Defense Ministry and chief military commanders of Israel. Israel is confident that the missiles and other weapons were being sent to Port Sudanto to be transported by road to the Gaza Strip to attack the Israeli territories almost daily.
The Israeli Defense Forces told Vestnik Kavkaza that a press conference about the intercepted ship will be held on Monday. The weapons it carried will be demonstrated to the public. No details about the interception operation, codenamed Operation Full Disclosure, have been given.
Israeli intelligence services have been monitoring the shipment since its was stationed in Syria. Israeli agents managed to get a list of the weapons on Klos C and its route. Satellites were used for convenience of three ships sent to intercept the vessel. The ship was taken over fast and the crew was informed that their lives were not in danger and would be back home soon, unless they had anything to do with the shipment.
M-312 high range missiles and mortar shots were hidden under cement labels. Engineers checked the ship in case it had been rigged with bombs.
Iran is now busy searching for the source of information leakage and Israeli agents. Egypt, where Hamas has recently been declared an illegal terrorist organization, is wondering how the weapon shipment was supposed to be taken to Gaza. Before that, Egypt had been confident that it was in control of the Sinai Peninsula and had been "patching the holes" that the Muslim Brotherhood used to deliver weapons to Hamas. Many curious details may be given at today's conference.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Abigdor Lieberman said that the shipment was proof that Iran had not given up its plans to destroy Israel and destabilise the Middle East. In their opinion, the West should quit the "chicken policy," wake up and admit the obvious fact. Masks off, Iran has always been an extremist state financing terrorism and in violation of international law, Lieberman supposes.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry had earlier said that Israel would file a complaint about Iran to the UNSC and its Sanctions Committee for violating resolutions N1747 and 1929, forbidding exports of weapons. Moreover, the smuggling attempt is a direct violation of resolutions N1373 and 1860 of the UNSC. Israeli diplomats have also accused Iran of exporting terrorism and attempting to destabilise the region.
The Israeli authorities and the US White House and the Pentagon have had telephone conversations about the intercepted Klos C vessel.
