Yesterday the Eilat port was full of people. Along with the media representatives, tens of diplomats from various countries came to an opening ceremony of the exhibition of arms intercepted by the Israeli military. The exhibition presented arms from Klos C Ship which ran under Panama flag, including 40 M-302 missiles made in Syria, 181 122-mm mortar shells made in Iran, and boxes with 400 000 bullets for Kalashnikov gun. Officers of the Israeli Army tell visitors in details about “items”; they show marks of countries where the arms were produced and explain what could happen, if terrorists got the arms. According to the Israeli military, M-302 missiles could reach central regions of the country where more than 60% of the Israeli population lives, i.e. several million people.
According to published information, the captain of Klos C is a citizen of Turkey. The crew consisted of citizens of Turkey, India, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and other countries. The ship left Istanbul on December 27th and arrived to the Iranian port of Bandar Abbas in months, where it was loaded by arms.
Israeli Premier Benjamin Netanyahu, the head of the Navy, Admiral Ram Rotenberg, and the Defense Minister Moshe Jaalon visited the exhibition. The Premier expressed gratitude to leaderships of Mossad and Aman for their perfect work, he also thanked the leadership of the army and soldiers who directly participated in the operation. “Iran foresaw an opportunity of interception of the ship and tried to cover up traces, removing marks “Made in Iran” and replacing them by marks of an Arab country. However, our experts were managed to prove that a part of the arms was produced in Iran and the ship was loaded in Iran as well. Today Iran is the main force which stands for continuation of the bloody war in Syria and supplies terrorist groups of Lebanon and Gaza with arms; it is responsible for many terrorist attacks in Europe. It hasn’t changed and doesn’t want to change,” Netanyahu said.
“There were forces in the world, which didn’t want us to conduct the operation. The forces still want the world to think that Iran has changed its political course. But it is an illusion, it hasn’t changed anything. I insisted on the operation, thinking of two goals. First of all, it was important for us to prevent the threat to million Israelis. Secondly, we have to demonstrate a true face of Iran to the world,” the words were the most mysterious part of Netanyahu’s speech.
What did Netanyahu mean under “the forces”? Netanyahu didn’t specify, but his environment says that it was about the USA and President Barack Obama. Vestnik Kavkaza thinks that the Americans knew about the load aboard Klos C and tried to persuade the Israelis to conduct the operation by American special forces. The USA wanted to keep interception of the ship in secret to prevent negative influence on contacts between the West and Iran. However, Netanyahu needed an international scandal, and he insisted on interception by Israeli soldiers.
