The Supreme Council of Crimea will hold a session in Simferopol this morning and form an official request to join Russia. According to preliminary data, 93% of Crimeans voted at the referendum to join Russia. Europe does not recognize the referendum. Any attempt of the Russian Federation to use it as a pretext for annexation of Crimea or further actions for territories of Ukraine are unacceptable, according UK Foreign Secretary William Hague, asking Russia to start a dialogue with Ukraine and the international society to settle the crisis diplomatically, with respect of the international law.
Veronica Kresheninnikova, Director General of the Russian Institute for Foreign Political Research and Initiatives, believes that the far-right, fascists are getting stronger in the context of the economic crisis in Europe. “It is quite hard for them to enter national parliaments of European states because the electoral systems were designed to prevent marginal parties from entering them. But experts expect that the European Parliament elections of May 20s will see buffing far-right forces. The US, being 8,000km from Europe, will not be affected by all the unrest, all the chaos the far-right will organize in Europe, just as what they organized in Syria. In terms of weakening Europe and Russia and other important centers in Europe, it is certainly a very “good” development.”
Krasheninnikova assures that “capitalism goes for Fascism in the context of economic crisis. This is what we see and I do not see how this policy could change. In Ukraine, the US and European allies carried out active preparatory work preceding the active phase started in late November. As Victoria Nuland said, over $5 billion were spent on the civil society, different grant programs. Indeed, the civil society is the same as the pro-West society of Ukraine. In the education system, look, people calling Bandera their hero went out to the streets. How was the education system operating in Ukraine to raise a whole generation of people with such convictions. It grew up quite logically. If George Soros finances education, these convictions are implemented in the society. Ukrainian mass media played the key role. And finally business. So all these elements of the nation, state were properly processed beforehand. So there is no need to talk about hatred towards Ukraine of the recent years. So all these elements were put together into a single picture and it could not go any other way.”
