The ambassador of Israel to Russia, Dorit Golender, speaks about the prospects of reviving the Palestinian-Israeli talks. The dialogue was started on July 30th, 2013, and stopped on April 29th, 2014. Relations between the sides became very tense when three Israeli teenagers were kidnapped on June 12th near Hebron.
Dorit Golender is sure that the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks were stopped due to the fault of the Palestinian side: “Israel, as well as the European community and many other countries, recognizes Hamas as a terrorist organization. Israel doesn’t negotiate with terrorist organizations. In other words, the interruption of the peace talks, especially in the context of the kidnapping, took place right on time, as it confirms the true intention of Hamas not to recognize Israel, to try to destroy it, and harm not only Israel, but the whole region. Hamas’s activity is targeted at destabilizing the situation in the Middle East.”
The ambassador of Israel says that today it is difficult to answer the question whether the talks will continue or not. “I cannot say whether it was the fault of Kerry’s envoy or not. Each side had its own interests and wishes to reach a certain agreement. But as they say, to dance the tango you need a partner. The “partnership” confirmed once again that the Palestinian side has no serious intentions of making peace with Israel,” Golender stressed.
She also commented on the kidnapping of three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank. Goldner stressed that “they were kidnapped by Hamas. We say it openly today. These are kids literally. They were standing at a crossroads, trying to catch a cab. The Israeli people and government are providing aid to the parents of the children, while Israeli Defense Forces are searching for them in the regions of Judea, Samaria and Gaza. More than 100 people have been arrested, many shells and guns were seized.”
Dorit Golender says that “Hamas is exultant about the kidnapping of the three teenagers. They throw candies and sweets and enjoy the situation. Their goal is to destroy Israel as a state. The premier and ministers of the Israeli government condemned the president of the State of Palestine Mahmud Abbas, as they consider him to blame for the incident. At the same time, the chairman of the Palestinian autonomy made a short speech and criticized the kidnapping, but he also criticized Israeli activity in Gaza in recent days. I should stress that Israeli air military activities were aimed against attacks at the peaceful population of Israel. The Israeli government expects certain steps to be taken by Abbas on returning the kidnapped children, launching military forces into Gaza for elimination of terrorism, and forbidding armed attacks on the peaceful Israeli population. We know that the Palestinian autonomy and the Israeli security forces have permanent contacts and exchange of information. We repeat that Abbas is responsible for the kidnapping of the three young Israeli men. Israel will do its best to rescue them, a lot is being done for this. The special services are working on it. Israel won’t stop till the children return home
