Terrorist attack directed at secular lifestyle and municipal elections


3 people were killed and 34 injured as a result of the recent terrorist attack in Dagestan. Terrorists always use the same scheme, they attack objects relevant to the activity of the law-enforcement agencies, using suicide bombers and explosive devices weighing several
kilograms.


Dagestani society is growing ever more worried about the deteriorating situation. People who have already become accustomed to the constant criminal activity in the republic are now frightened by the recent terrorist attacks on residents and local officials.


The situation worsened at the end of last year, when the Moscow authorities decided to appoint a new president of the republic. Political tension is inevitable during periods when high-ranking officials are being replaced.

However, the situation has not improved since the appointment of the new president, who didn't replace most of the republic's bureaucrats. That was unpredicted. The reason is that the terrorists are trying to subvert the whole secular lifestyle of the Dagestani people, to force
them into religious extremism.
