Explosions in Ossetia
North Ossetia commemorated recently the victims of the 2004 terrorist act in Beslan. The tragedy darkened the joyful festival of the 1st of September - the start of the new school year. Parents in Vladikavkaz still don't let their children attend first day celebrations. The
situation in Caucasus became tenser after the recent explosion in Vladikavkaz. On the 9th of September at 11.20 am a car parked near the central market exploded. It contained 10kg of explosives. 17 people died and over 130 were injured. The suicide bomber has been identified, but the initiators of the act are still unknown. The government sees a connection between the blast and the recent approval of the development strategy for Caucasus until 2025. The authorities regard the terrorist attack as an attempt to destabilize the situation. On the 7th of September, the presidents of North Ossetia and Ingushetia held a meeting to discuss cooperation in the sphere of non-governmental, political and religious organizations. September 10 is a day of mourning in South Ossetia.
