Militants of Islamic State (ISIS) have posted a video on the internet of a British hostage captured in Syria two years ago. In the video the man urges the international community to stop Western forces fighting the radical Islamists. British diplomats fear that he may suffer the fate of David Haines, who was killed a few days ago. ISIS had earlier released a video of American journalist James Foley's execution, stirring up the public. Such cruel acts by the Islamists will inevitably provoke Islamophobia in the world, especially among people who do not care to find differences between radical Islam and the true Muslim religion.
Dagestani Leader Ramazan Abdulatipov believes that ignorance is the main enemy of any culture, religion or nation. "When people ask what culture is, i tell them: "Culture is when a man is a man, a woman is a woman, when an elder is an elder, a youngster is a youngster, when a husband is a husband, when a wife is a wife, when a father is a father, when a son is a son." It has been fixed for millennia and all things that should be followed have legal and ethical norms," assures the head of Dagestan.
Abdulatipov says that Islam, like any religion, should not freeze in its development, it should adapt to new times, at the same time its basis should remain unchanged. "Some people have a beard and tell me: "Prophet Muhammad had a beard too." Guys, Prophet Muhammad rode a camel, do you ride one too? Ride camels. Islam should adapt to the times, but that does not mean that the basics of Islam should be violated. If Islam were not adapting to concrete cultures of nations, it would have stayed only in Saudi Arabia."
Ramazan Abdilatipov urges people to remember that Islam is a religion of knowledge. He complained that people were reluctant to learn from the mistakes and experience of past generations: "Islam says: "Allah loves pure people." Then why do we wash ourselves with the October Revolution Canal? Look, your apartments have European-style renovation but the porches can only be entered in a gas mask."
"Islam is a religion of science. It says: "One year of science equals 70 years of prayers." Science, knowledge are the most valuable things. It says "If you need, go to China for knowledge." Why are Muslim states usually the most lagging? Why do Muslim states have the most dogmatic regimes?" wonders Abdulatipov.
"Some say: "Infidel soldiers have come, we fight them." I gather those people and ask: "Tell me, is Prophet Isa (Jesus) a highly respected prophet in the Holy Quran?" "He is." "Do you worship him?" "Yes." "Then why do you not worship his followers?" Go higher. The last prophet is Muhammad. We need to take the best from other religions," the Dagestani leaders addresses Muslims, urging them to act in line with their religion, their faith.
