New ideology of Ukrainian state

According to recent polls, as a result of the parliamentary elections in Ukraine held on October 26 seven parties will be able to enter the Verkhovna Rada. The Poroshenko bloc is considered  to be the undisputed leader of the race, followed by the Popular Front of Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenuk, the Fatherland party led by Yulia Tymoshenko, the Radical Party headed by Oleg Lyashko, Samopomich led by Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovy, the opposition Strong Ukraine and the Opposition Bloc. Experts predict that the new Verkhovna Rada will be radically different from the current Ukrainian parliament.

Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Global Economics and International Relations of the Higher School of Economics, Andrey Suzdaltsev, believes that a new ideology of the Ukrainian state is being formed now. "This ideology is based on a denial of the entire Russian world, Russia as a state, and the Russian people, especially our government. This new state, this new Ukrainian ideology, leaves us no place in this part of our continent. This is very serious," he said.

According to the expert, the Ukrainian authorities are now on the brink of war: "Sometimes the decisions made by the Ukrainian government are beneficial from the point of view of the Minsk Agreement, sometimes they are trying to put pressure on the rebels, I mean shelling Donetsk for instance. Apparently, a paramilitary state is favourable for some forces, precisely those forces that are now represented in the parliament. Because they can simply blame Russia for everything. They blame Putin for all their mistakes. In Russia we do the same, saying that the sanctions are to blame for all the problems we are facing. In Ukraine they blame Putin."

Suzdaltsev is sure that the US role in the election campaign in Ukraine is clear. "The surname Nuland is being heard constantly. Nuland decides this and that, Nuland is negotiating something, Nuland will give instructions to Yatsenyuk. It seems that the US embassy in Kiev is the center of power, which solves many issues concerning the functioning of the current, very peculiar political system, which was formed in modern Ukraine. Moscow must understand that no serious changes will take place until we realize that these issues should be resolved not by Russia and Ukraine, but by Russia and the United States.

With regard to the efforts taken by international organizations to resolve the crisis in Ukraine, it seems like they are not so effective. As the acting director of the UN Information Center in Moscow Yuri Shishayev told Vestnik Kavkaza, "The Ukrainian crisis was in the focus of attention of the UN Secretary General from the very beginning." "I have learnt that just from the first of March to the present day the UN secretary general has made about 20 statements on the Ukrainian crisis. Perhaps the most important page in this respect is the work of the special mission established to monitor the situation concerning human rights, which has recently issued its sixth report on the situation in this field in Ukraine," he said.
