It will be not easy to negotiate with the Syrian opposition while external influence is maintained in the region

In early April in Moscow the second meeting of representatives of the government and the opposition in Syria will be held. The Russian side has already sent invitations to potential participants of the Syrian second consultative meeting, as well as the special representative of the UN Secretary General on Syria Stefano di Mistura. According to Interfax Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov, there are not less invitations sent  to participants than the last time, and even to those who did not attend the first meeting. This organization, in particular, has become a National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces. The first meeting took place in two stages. First, at the end of January four-day  talks were held with Syrian opposition, which were attended by over 30 representatives of opposition groups and civil society of Syria, as well as immigrants. Then they were joined by representatives of the official Syrian authorities. Government delegation headed by Permanent Representative of Syria to the UN Bashar Jaafari. Now the delegation of the Syrian government may be represented at a higher level than the permanent representative to the UN.

However, an agreement with the Syrian opposition while external influence is maintained in the region will not be easy to achieve. Advisor to the Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, Ambassador Andrei Baklanov said right now in the whole world there is a tendency to instruct others, and if they do not understand that in a good way, some military methods can be used. Let's see lessons of the Syrian crisis during these four years.

Syrian undemocratic regime, which uses the power structures, was selected as a reason for intervention. The Americans and other westerners  decided that it was time to  fix the situation in the country, to help the democratic forces in order to change the situation for the better, to ensure the military  forces to move away from the management of force in dealing with internal problems and even better - to replace existing regime to other one.. However, this approach gave the opposite result.

" In spring of 2011 we criticized our Syrian colleagues, fairly enough, for excessive rigidity and so on, they in their turn began to develop bills, and the process of certain democratization went. But it was suspended later because it became more urgent to fight off the pursuing bandits.. The Syrians on the contrary raise the profile and influence of the security forces in everyday life, "says Baklanov and concludes the attempts from the outside world to make a difference in terms of such abstract democratization lead to the opposite result. Nation begins to resist such pressure, using the power of resistance to the power of interference.

The second conclusion of Baklanov is even more unpleasant: "In 2011, the Syrians were advised - be more flexible, meet with different representatives of different groups of fighters, even, in the end, try to convince them to act otherwise. The Syrians then said: "What kind of people you are talking about? Those are very real gangsters, why should  we meet with them? Whom do they represent? "I remember they gave the whole file for each person, who nominated himself as a representative of the nation, it was given a dossier where he came from, how he received top position, why media from western countries were working with him. Dossier was very convincing and very unpleasant for those people.

It turned out that they were right. his kind of advice and guidance were taken into account by Ukrainian government of Yanukovych and how everything ended for Yanukovich?  these people who are trying to correct government, using violent methods, there is no way to make ceremonies with them, and they only way to work with them is using military forces..Diplomatic methods are welcomed, but in reality we have to look closely, taking into account the Syrian experience, understanding to what it can lead."
