Some EU countries are carrying out a dirty campaign in connection with the celebration of Victory Day, the plenipotentiary envoy of Russia to the EU, Vladimir Chizhov has said. Due to the situation in Ukraine and contradictions between Russia and the USA and the EU, the problem of a place where Victory Day should be marked is discussed seriously. Europe has already suggested celebrating in London, Berlin, and Kiev. Some representatives of the EU have explained their rejection of participating in the celebrations in Moscow by the fact that May 9th is Europe Day. However, 10 years ago the holiday didn’t prevent European leaders from visiting Moscow, when the 60th anniversary of the Victory was marked.
The leader of the Russian Communist Part Gennady Zyuganov explained the situation with communist frankness. According to him, it started in the times of Churchill's Fulton speech, and during the Caribbean crisis, John Kennedy, the American president, said: “We can't fight the USSR, we will ruin ourselves. But we can't allow that country to develop so fast. They are our main competitor. Recommend me a way to fight that country with non-military methods.”
A concept was developed “to show to naive Soviet people that one country is too small for them and they will live a better life if they split into separate national apartments. In fact, they will break the connections and be drawn one by one. But for 40 years they were brainwashed that if they break apart, they will be happier. Tell me, who is happy after they lost a united country? Everybody is surviving,” Zyuganov thinks.
The second point of the concept required formation of a generation of consumers: “For this they had to prove that the Soviet country and the Soviet people were not the winners, but criminals like the Nazis. Everything is done to equate the USSR to Nazi Germany. Some European deputies were jumping out of their pants in Strasbourg to prove this on the eve of the 60th anniversary of the Victory. Where did they come from? They said that their American lords told them to say so. Now Yatsenyuk does it.”
Meanwhile, according to Zyuganov, Russia’s enemies continued the idea of poisoning the spirit of the youth: “Kreder can publish history textbooks in our country. It turns out that there was a little mix-up near Moscow, and a little fight in Stalingrad, while the main military events evolved on the Pacific, in North Africa, in the Atlantic and Western Europe. This is how he presented history to our school pupils. Now, thank God, they came to their senses and created a commission. They are trying to write normal history. But to write normal history for our youth, we need to remember one unquestionable fact – for 1000 years we survived only because of victories. We are people of victory, we were born by that victory. Starting with the Battle on the Ice when Alexander Nevsky drowned the crusaders, the Battle of Kulikovo when 30-year-old Dmitry Donskoy liberated the country from the yoke of the Golden Horde. From the Battle of Poltava when Peter I showed how powerful empires are born. Including the three battles of the Great Patriotic War - Stalingrad, Moscow, Orel, Kursk, where the spine of the fascist beast was broken.”
Zyuganov says that “the youth need to know their true history. They will then respect their fathers and grandfathers - the victors - and look to the future with confidence. Today they are testing their teeth on us. The same forces that we did not finish off in May 1945. We need to stay united.”
