The Fourth Conference on International Security is being held in Moscow. It is discussing problems of global security. Representatives of defense ministries, experts, and scientists from more than 70 countries, as well as delegates from six international organizations are participating in the forum this year. One of them is the Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan, having been invited by his Russian colleague Sergei Shoygu. They are discussing issues of implementation of supplies of S-300 surface-to-air missile systems to Tehran.

“The talks with Mr. Minister touched on regional and international issues, as well as the threats which face the security of regional and world powers,” Hossein Dehghan told journalists after the meeting with Shoygu. “We have reconsidered the experience of our cooperation, I mean previous experience in management of crisis situations in the region and the positive experience which we have gained. We discussed the theoretical foundations of the issues, the actions which we use against the factors which have led to destabilization in the region,” Hossein Dehghan said.

He expressed hope that Moscow and Tehran can cooperate more effectively in establishing a new world order. “We discussed issues which were connected with the struggle against terrorism, with Zionist and extremist movements, as well as mechanisms of coordination of our actions,” the minister said.

According to him, the ministers also discussed “mechanisms of formation of cooperation within the framework of regional organization. We have agreed on cooperation between the Caspian countries. It was suggested to conduct a trilateral meeting between the Defense Ministers of Russia, Iran and China.”

“We discussed the agreement on military issues and military-technical cooperation. The agreement indicates a stage of development and extension of our cooperation. We have agreed that the agreement will be fulfilled in practice in a short period. We discussed issues on delivery of S-300 systems. Both sides have the will to implement the contract. During a month, all aspects of the contract will be discussed, and the contract will be fulfilled by the end of the year,” Dehghan said.

Meanwhile, yesterday the deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Sergei Ryabkov, expressed hope that Iran would lift the legal claim by Tehran against Rosoboronexport, as Russia had changed its position on the delivery of S-300 systems.
