An event 'Record of Victory' will be conducted on May 9 in dozens of cities of Russia in celebration of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. A flashmob is intended to show that a generation is growing in Russia that is worthy of their ancestors, who fought bravely for their homeland. 20 thousand local residents, who not in word but in deed will pay tribute to our grandparents for the peaceful skies above, will arrive on the squares of Russian cities. At exactly 13:00 in the cities, participants will do 'push-ups', one for every passing day of peace since the war ended. In this anniversary year, the participants of “Record of Victory” in each city will do push-ups 25 thousand 568 times. The event is aimed at promoting sports and a healthy lifestyle and is designed to show that in today's Russia such things as strength of spirit and unity, with which our valiant ancestors won the terrible war, are not forgotten.
The Orlovskaya region is a place where all the residential buildings were destroyed, the entire territory was occupied by German soldiers, everything was burned, Orel Governor Vadim Potomsky says. On May 7 two records are going to be established and recorded in the Guinness Book of Records in the framework of the 'Record of Victory' event. “The first, the main record, is to be established by Alexander Murom. He has already established eight records in the Guinness Book of Records. The ninth is going to be established on the 9th of May, on the eve of the 70th anniversary celebration of the Great Victory. 10,000 participants will be involved in making an image of a Hero of the Soviet Union. They will be mainly students, schoolchildren and adults,” Potomsky claimed, noting that other events are being held in the Orlovskaya region in order to raise the patriotic spirit. Like this, riders from the club "Night Wolves" and its founder Alexander Zaldostanov (Surgeon) supported the proposal of Potomsky on the organization of a memorial motocross, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. On the evening of April 27 the motocross "Fire of Memory – Fire of Unity" finished in Orel on Tankers Square. More than 70 bikers participated in it.
“The Orlovskaya region, together with Channel 1, has started to screen the film called "The Vaccination Against Fascism." This film is widely distributed now. We try to cultivate it, share it with other regions and show it in all the educational institutions and institutions of higher education. The film shows what war is and how it influenced the Orlovskaya region. There are documentary videos not just from our archives, but also from fascist Germany archives - It shows facts that children from the Orlovskaya region were sent to Germany as biological material,” the governor said.
He also claimed: “There are a lot of events that we decided to time for the 9th of May in order to show the world that Russia is absolutely calm and continuing to overcome the period of sanctions imposed by the Western countries. We want to show that we will not allow them to change the history of World War II.”
