Dialogue releases tension

The working group of the Public Chamber of Russia held a series of public dialogues with representatives of public associations in Izberbash, Derbent, Buinaksk, Kizlyar, Khasavyurt and Makhachkala as part of the “Peace to the Caucasus” program.

The working group of the project 'Peace to the Caucasus' includes the Public Chamber member, writer and broadcaster Maksim Shevchenko, journalist Ivan Sukhov, member of the Public Chamber of Russia Anatoly Libet, political scientist and journalist Orhan Cemal, member of the Scientific Council of the Moscow Carnegie Center Alexei Malashenko, and others. The dialogues are aimed at reflecting the real picture of processes occurring in the country and understanding the true sentiments in society.

As a result of the dialogues, the following problems were raised:

Schools are closed because municipalities cannot support them. Teachers from rural areas are forced to leave.
High-quality medicine is unavailable to inhabitants of the republic.

The checkpoints scattered throughout the North Caucasus Federal District have become a stumbling block for civilians, merchants and entrepreneurs.

An exodus of the Russian population took place. The Russian population was mainly employed in industry, however companies have now ceased to exist.
