Everyday communication between Cossacks is saturated with traditions. A traditional Cossack greeting is not a simple "hello". One can greet a person in three different ways, which reflect archaic forms of the Russian language.
Differences also exist in greetings to people of different ages and status groups. Greetings to women range from daughter to grandmother. At the same time, every greeting, especially after a long separation, is made together with a hug and kisses on both cheeks. Kisses are also used to greet each other at Easter.
Cossacks have also preserved special Christian traditions in their verbal communication. Thus, having committed a mistake a Cossack would utter the following words: "Forgive me for God's sake," "Forgive me for Christ's sake."
