The exaggeration of everyday conflicts into national problems becomes a more and more frequent approach in media and political games. In the North Caucasus people are indignant over the anti-Caucasus campaign, which began after the tragic incident with the sportsman Rasul Merzayev's participation. The North Caucasus republics are sure that some forces are interested in an exaggeration of the issue. Who and why? The common opinion on this problem was expressed by the head of Ingushetia Yunus-bek Yevkurov, who considered the incident as an everyday conflict, which shouldn’t be exaggerated to the national scale. Yevkurov suggested launching of xenophobia, nationalism and extremism censorship. He believes that censorship is necessary for national politicians too, who assault whole ethnic-groups ahead of the elections to gain points in some regions.
On August 13 near Garage club 19 year-old Ivan Agafonov (height 190 cm, weight 90 kg), who was called “a child” in Malakhov and Zelensky’s TV-shows, tried to flirt with the girlfriend of “the black tiger” Rasul Mirzayev (height 168 cm, weight 65 kg). The boxer didn’t like it and he hit Agafonov with his left hand (though his “working” arm is right), Ivan hit the pavement, banged his head on metal lattice work and fell unconscious. At the hospital Agafonov wasn’t provided with medical assistance immediately, and died few days later.
It is obvious that the ethnic issue has been dragged into an everday common incident. Investigators are under great pressure, which prevents objective investigation. Many lawyers think that the incident falls under the 109th article (infliction of death by negligence) – up two years imprisonment. Rasul Merzayev has never been under investigation before, he turned himself to the police and deserves well of the country.
However, hysteria broke out. TV demonstrated smiling Agafonov and grinning Mirzayev. Vladimir Zhirinovsky questioned: “How dare he hit a Russian guy in face?” According to him, Mirzayev is a barbarian from another side. One more time we heard about the dying under Caucasian yoke country. The theme “Russians are offended” was raised again. The incident was politicized. Mirzayev was presented as a scarecrow. Nobody reported that he was raised in a foster home, where he and his brother were sent by their mother, who was left without husband. He could escape the country and became a political refugee, considering his fighting skills he could earn there well. But he didn’t do it.
PS: Recently in Saratov Alexander Khromov, who goes in for kickboxing, hit the 50 year-old stranger Livitsky, as Khromov was drunk. Four days later the injured died. Where is the reaction of society? Ethnicity is wrong?
