To spread peacemaking essence of Islam

“We have to do our best to prevent the religious aspect from being a basis for conflicts and to make people of various confessions live together in peace,” the head of Ingushetia, Yunus-bek Yevkurov, stated at the international scientific conference “Islam in Russia and abroad: history and culture of society,” which was held in Magas. Social and religious activists, scientists and journalists from Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tadjikistan, Ukraine, Great Britain, Poland and Germany came to take part in this event, devoted to the 100th anniversary of the death of the outstanding religious activist of Ingushetia, sheikh Batal-Haji Belkharoyev.

The well-known religious activist of Ingushetia and Kazakhstan, Ahmed Poshev, said that the main weapon of such prominent people as Batal-Haji Belkhoroyev was words, not arms. They had never called for violence or war, and the current generation should follow their example. “We should respect, love and value each other. God created us for this,” Poshev stated.

The participants at the conference agreed that today Islam is a dynamically developing religion. There are about 20 million Muslims in Russia. Islam has arguments against the soullessness of consumer society. The current jihad is aimed at education, spreading an adequate understanding of Islam, and fighting falsification. The 21st century is a century of dialogue between cultures. Radicals, extremists and militants discredit religion’s weight.

“The peoples of Ingushetia are respectful and fair. I want to express gratitude to my close friend Sultan-Haji Belkhoroyev for the invitation,” the imam of Pushkino in the Moscow region, Ramil Khazrat Faskhudinov, told VK.

“Ingushetia is a unique place. My interest in this region began from studying the policy of Russia in the Caucasus. The history of the Chechen and Ingush peoples is connected with Islam. Germany treats this confession suspiciously. It is important to explain to Western people the peacemaking ideology of Islam," a candidate of historical science from the Free University of Berlin, Christian Wilhelm, told VK.
