The first Caucasian interdepartmental forum of the NCFD “South Shield” on resisting extremism and terrorist ideology was held in Chechnya. The event was initiated by the federal ministry of internal affairs. The representatives of the Chechen administration said the main aim of the forum is showing Chechnya’s experience in resisting extremism, based on a spiritual and moral revival of society, strengthening of inter-ethnic and inter-confessional relations.

The authorities of the republic understand the role of Internet. The ministry on foreign links, national policy, press and information of Chechnya established an electronic mass media body, which monitors all information resources of Chechnya. The Center of spiritual and moral education has chatters and bloggers, who provide an anti-extremist policy. In the future it is planned to found schools of young journalists and Chechen bloggers. Religious activists and the government control the activities of people, who choose young men and girls for studying in foreign Islamic universities.

The ministry permanently provides monitoring of extremist sites and follows communication at forums of terrorist supporters. As a result of the research, a series of journalist materials and revealing statements are prepared. Then they are spread by the mass media. It helps law-enforcement agencies in their activity. We suggest forbidding publications for some term by journalists, who have been convicted of extremist information activity several times.

Chechnya has already defined common demands on the appearance of a pupil. According to the standards, schools have launched school uniforms, choosing the color, model and fabric of it on their own. Of course, criticism by some liberal activists and human rights protection bodies was heard. Establishment of reasonable marks of our nation, a high moral and religious vision, will lead to raising patriots of Russia, i.e. a powerful shield against any extremist activities.
