Murad Soltamuradov stayed in a school for visually impaired children. During the his nurse kept him at her home, but when the school was closed its employees went away.
In 1995, six-year-old Murad found himself in the Ingush settlement of Achaluki, where he was found by Magomed Tochiyev, a police officer. The officer adopted the child. Even a part of the house where the family lived was entrusted to him.
Murad himself says that he remembers only the sea and a tram. The place he means is a psychoneurotic center and Grozny reservoir in the settlement of Chernorechye, where the sick children were examined. The center was already closed, yet, they managed to find out the surname of the boy.
There were a lot of attempts to find the relatives of Murad, but it was very difficult because the surname Soltamuradov is quitewide-spread in Chechnya. Human rights activists helped the search.
When I asked about Murad's childhood I had to recall in my mind again the times when the Chechen cities were bombed, and not only the militants but the residential neighborhoods as well. In this period, his relatives lost touch with the boy, his aunt says."In the beginning of 1995 we were informed that Murad had been taken away from the school by some women, he and other children were in the cellar, then they all went to Ingushetia. When we managed to get to Grozny it was already too late," she said. Finally, Zayha Isayeva, a member of the Malgobek administration, helped Murad to find his relatives via Nurdi Nukhazhiyev, the human rights plenipotentiary. Magomed Tochiyev and his family still keep in contact with Murad.Timur Utsayev, Grozny, exclusively for VK
