Alternative energy sources will solve problems of ecology and unemployment and will increase life quality.
Russian president Dmitry Medvedev recently set a task to increase the share of renewable energy sources from current 1% to 20% by 2020. The main advantages of renewable energy sources are that they produce ecologically clear and cheap energy which provides continuity and autonomy of the users. In European countries renewable energy sources form not less than 20%. In Spain the wind aggregates produce up to 30% of energy. In Sweden and Germany sun energy is widely used. In short, this scientific area has priority. The branch of the Institute of High Temperatures of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the research institute "Sun" investigates and develops renewable energy sources in Dagestan. The institute builds houses which are lit and heated with energy of sun batteries, getting answers to the questions like how the technologies work practically, how much energy they produce and how much they are economic and ecologically safe.
The director of the research institute "Sun", Professor Abdulla Avadziyev told VK about the projects of the institute: "God himself enjoined us to use sun energy. Besides that we can increase the capacity by using wind generators. And we can get biological gas from
the wastes of livestock and poultry farming".
The scientists work on how to use heat of sea to regulate different temperatures, as they do in Sweden. Avadziyev gives an example: "In the port of Makhachkala we could build a power station of capacity of 5-6 megawatt. There are lots of small rivers in Dagestan. The
hydropower engineering should be developed by building small hydropower stations".
There are five energy-efficient houses at the research institute. The institute has started producing modules working from sun batteries for individual autonomous power supply. But not everybody can buy it, though they are repaid in 5 years, but working 25 years. According to
the scientist, the government should stimulate mass use of alternative energy sources.
At the research institute "Wave" in Derbent modules of sun batteries and boilers are made. They are compensated in 1-2 years. "Our heat pumps are worse than German ones only regarding design. We also produce sun collectors, which are 2, 5 times cheaper than German ones.
So there is demand for them", Abdulla Avadziyev says. The scientists started using ecological technology of drying of vegetables, fruits, berries and herbs. The first models of dryers are
used in the Sergokalinsky district.
It is obvious that renewable energy sources will not replace the traditional energy sources, but could be good additional resource. "We need to develop in all directions", Abdulla Avadziyev says.
