Journalist forum in Adygei

A forum of journalists of the republics of the south of the Russian Federation, Abkhazia and South Ossetia took place in Maykop recently.

Aslan Tkhakushirov, the president of Adygei, said that such an event helped the journalists to keep in touch with each other and to develop contacts.

The first forum of this kind took place in 2007 in the framework of the friendship agreement between Adygei and krasnodar kray. 130 journalists took part in the forum in that year. Republican and local newspapers and magazines, TV companies participated in it. In 2009 the journalists from Abkhazia and South Ossetia were invited to the forum as the foreign representatives.

The main topics of this year forum were: 1) the modernization of media: from crisis to renovation, 2) regional media^ effective models of devcelopment, 3) The internet and the press: a concurrence. The internet site of a local media 4) The interregional collaboration in the fight against the corruption and the terrorism, the definition of tollerance and xenophoby in the media.

The question of terrorism has caused serious discussions. Many journalists protested against calling it "islamic" for the Islam is one of the world religions and does not have to be bound up with the terrorist organizations. They said that the extermism in any form must be fought against.
