International ecological movement Terra viva initiated a prize “Kind peace angel”. The prize symbolizes the call for peace and cooperation and is given to people who made a great contribution in the environmental protection. In the nearest future it will be given to the mayor of New York for his work to liquidate the consequences of the natural disasters and the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon for the support of the ecological programs.
“International ecological movement Terra Viva unites ecologists and different experts”, says the president of the movement Nikolai Drozdov, “Our motto is “Living planet belongs to us all”. We reached the level that the scale of human influence on the biosphere is so huge that the natural capacities to assimilate the negative impact of men is basically exhausted. If we continue the same as now, the planet will exterminate us and not with some magical way but simply because there will be no resources of our existence. Ecological problems may become a global threat to humanity. Therefore we are trying to use all possible resources – conferences, round tables, awards, publications. In this educating and propagating work the bright events are very important because they attract the attention of the thousands of people.
We, international ecologists, decided that angel the savior of earth is a good symbol. In 2008 this idea was blessed by the patriarch Alexei II. We even brought one of the angels like this to Antarctica. There, on the Bellingshausen station there is an old Orthodox church that has a shape of a pyramid. Inside there are iron chains that go from the corners to the centers because in winter the winds are strong that otherwise the simple wooden construction would be destroyed. We brought there the angel blessed by the patriarch. Our angel spread his wings in Bryansk, in Khakassia, in Volgograd, in Tatarstan, in Chuvashia, in Stavropol, in Moscow and Orenburg. There is one in North Caucasus – it stays in a very special place, in Beslan next to the spot of the terror attack. Now Dagestan asks for an angel like this because it is not calm there either. Maybe it will help the pacify the North Caucasus. The more there are, the better.
There is a project of an angel like this in Quito, in Ecuador. We went there several times and talked to the mayor and he supports us. We even were received by the president of Ecuador Rafael Correa - this is an amazing political leader, young, active, full of ideas of how to improve the life of his people.
“We all live on the same planet and have to create a new world for our children”, said the ambassador of Ecuador to Russia Patrizio Alberto Chavez Savala . “We have a national park that is among the most bio-diverse in the world. The on one hectare we can find 250 birds or the flora of the entire North America, that produces oxygen not only for Ecuador but for the entire world. The paradox is that there is oil underneath this park, and to extract it we need to send to atmosphere 500000 tons of carbon dioxide. This will certainly harm the ecology of Ecuador and the world. Then we started an initiative: Ecuador will not extract this oil if it gest the compensation of the 50% of its price. Only 3.5 billion dollars for 5 years given by the other countries in the world. But we reached a more important aim than money. It is the understanding of the people on the different levels that something has to be done. We give and examplet to the rest of the world that even the poor countries like Ecuador can contribute.
The year 2013 is declared the year of environmental protection. “We decided to support the initiative of the president and attract attention to this year, marking it with special events”, says Nikolai Drozdov. “On November 29 we will organize and interactive ecological exhibition “Global initiative of the international ecologists”. The exhibition will include the presentation of the environmentally-friendly technologies and services – toursim, goods, food, innovative technologies. We invited the representatives of the Ministries, the Parliament Committees for ecology, the Committee of the Council of Federation for the rural and food policy as well as some environmentally-responsible companies, experts and ecologists”.
