Baku man forms party in Israel

David Kon, a native of Baku, Israeli TV host and former member of Azerinform, has formed the Israelim Party in Israel. The party will be devoted to protection of Russian speakers in Israel. According to many observers, the time of such parties has passed in Israel, and all of them predicted failure of the new political movement at the elections. But opinion polls published on December 13 say that the party may get two seats. It was a startler of the week.

Kon (probably due to the lack of political experience) admitted that he was surprised by the results of polls, which means he had chosen a right political course.

The second member following Kon in the party is Alex Vexler, a native of Baku, member of a KVN team of Yuli Gusman.

Iosif Shagal, the Israeli Ambassador to Belarus, is the first Azerbaijani native at the Israeli parliament, elected in 2006.
