The authorities of Ingushetia have postponed the opening ceremony of the first ski run for the fifth time. The ceremony of launching the run in the Dzheirakh district was postponed several times due to very warm weather. However, the republic's authorities are preparing for the opening carefully. They hope to amaze guests with not only the tourist capacities of the republic, but also local customs. And one of the main roles is to be played by… dolls.
Today the modern art of designed dolls has sparked demand not only among collectors, but also among art experts and designers. A designed doll in a room shows the sophisticated taste of the hosts. Hundreds of major exhibitions of dolls are conducted annually around the world. For several years the Ingush artist-designer Zina Inarkiyeva has been making dolls in national Ingush costumes. Small figures in colorful clothes decorate many collections in Russia and abroad.
Considering the development of the tourist sphere of the republic, this craft is gaining special importance. Inarkiyeva’s works are most welcome in any public arrangements. Her exotic dolls can be seen and bought during the opening ceremony of the first ski run. Previously there were only female images; but now they are exhibited in couples – a bride and a groom.
“The idea to create and costume dolls was born in my head long ago. Often a wedding dress is very expensive, but one wants to demonstrate it. We make a complete small copy of it,” Inarkiyeva told Vestnik Kavkaza. Collectors attend many shows in which the studio of the Ingush designer takes part. They are glad to buy the dolls. The national Ingush costume is really interesting for people. This year the designer was invited to Italy, next year – to Germany. She has many orders from Dagestan.
Forms for her dolls are made in well-known St. Petersburg factories and are sent to Ingushetia. Producing a dress for small brides and grooms takes a week, if all the accessories are ready. A guest jeweler makes tiny belts, chains of gold and silver. A dress should be a complete copy of its original. Fabrics are bought in Russia and abroad. Three epochs are presented – the pagan period, the Middle Ages and modern times.
Zina Inarkiyeva says that she revives ancient national traditions and culture. Her dolls in national costumes, ancient hats “kerkhars” are very popular. She learnt knitting, sewing, and stitching from her grandmother.
