On 13 March, a ceremony was held to award the rector of the Baku branch of Moscow State University and Doctor of Philology, Professor Nargiz Pashayeva with the Golden Order of Merit of the European Economic Chamber of Trade, Commerce and Industry (EEIG).
Opening the ceremony, lecturer in Russian literature Andrey Krupchanov described the activities of Moscow State University. He noted that today the Baku branch is one of the most prestigious and leading universities. It is a dynamically-developing university which trains bachelors and masters in mathematics, psychology, philology, chemistry and economics. The Branch works with leading universities around the world. Over the last two years, a campus, including academic and residential buildings, has been built in Azerbaijan for the first time.
The branch has the latest scientific equipment to create an environment that provides the basis for the unification of all the staff and faculty members. He noted that thanks to the vigour of Nargiz Pashayeva, in a short time the university was able to take its rightful place not only among the universities of the country, but also far beyond its borders, 1news.az reports.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of the European Economic Chamber of Trade, Commerce and Industry, Professor Heinz Helmut Vejpustek, congratulated Rector Nargiz Pashayeva on her honorary award and said that for him it is an honour to be in Baku.
Speaking about the work of the European Economic Chamber Trade, Commerce and Industry, Heinz Vejpustek said that the structure he represents is an international NGO. The Senate is the supreme body of European Economic Chamber of Trade, Commerce and Industry. The Senate elects professionals who play a prominent role in public life, such as government officials, prominent businessmen and members of the European Parliament, heads of universities, etc.
Then Heinz Helmut Vejpustek presented the honorary gold medal to Nargiz Pashayeva.
Professor Pashayeva expressed deep gratitude and appreciation to the European Economic Chamber of Trade, Commerce and Industry for the appreciation of her work.
In her speech, Nargiz Pashayeva noted that the Lomonosov Moscow State University is important for the country, in cultural and historical terms, that "today, the university holds its indisputable superiority in one-sixth of the planet. It still remains a major centre of Russian science and culture."
She noted that the University of Moscow had at all times taught people knowledge and an understanding of the world, and hence self-improvement, inner, spiritual, moral enrichment. The power of science and education has no boundaries, and unites people and states.
