In Moscow, the Medical Forum of Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia – AYOR – has been opened. The Forum was supported by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University. The forum was attended by 100 young professionals and more than 50 distinguished guests. They discussed the most current and dynamic sectors of medicine and medical education. Relations between Russia and Azerbaijan in the field of health have a long history, and one of the main objectives of the forum is the development of an effective integration of young doctors in the field of medicine and education between the two countries.

“Undoubtedly, the forum is very important for Russia and Azerbaijan. The traditions of Russia and Azerbaijan, you know, are old and good, including in the field of health and medicine. The foundations at the time, in the 1970s, 1980s, were laid by Heydar Aliyev, who led the republic. Hundreds of young Azerbaijani doctors and students were sent to most major centers at the time of the Soviet Union, and there have been studies. There they prepared their theses, came back and led the research schools themselves. To this day, many of them are active in public health in Azerbaijan,” Oktay Shiraliyev, Minister of Health of Azerbaijan, said.

“I would like to wish every success to the work of your forum. I would like to wish every success to those young people who are now studying in Moscow. I don't want them to lose touch with their homeland, even if they remain here, in Russia, and work here, to be always mindful of the motherland and the fact that their talent, their work, their knowledge are necessary for their homeland, and to be always ready to help Azerbaijan's public health,” Polad Bul-Bul oglu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Russia, stated.

“European medicine was introduced to Azerbaijan by Russian scientists. We cannot forget and do not forget this. Some time ago I was faced with the fact that Zilber, the epidemiologist, began his work in Azerbaijan. I want to say that you can be a bad engineer, can be a bad taxi driver, but I would not recommend being a bad doctor. If you feel that you are not very satisfied with this discipline, it is possible to find a place somewhere else. A bad doctor is useless both for Azerbaijan and for Russia. Therefore, I wish everyone to be great doctors. I was congratulated that I was the first academician of the Russian Academy. I said: the main thing is that I am not the last one. I hope that in the near future you’ll join the Russian political and scientific establishment,” Mamed Aliyev, director of the Pediatric Oncology and Hematology Research Institute, President of WAC, said.
