Pavel Tsoroyev, Nazran. Especially for Vestnik Kavkaza
Tomorrow in Ingushetia, celebrations will begin of the 245th anniversary of the voluntary entry of Ingushetia into the Russian state. Festive events will be held in the cities and regions of the country until March 18. During these days in Ingushetia, those who faithfully served the Fatherland will be remembered.
Ingushetians occupied prominent positions among the officer corps of the Russian Imperial Army. In the lists of the convoy of His Imperial Majesty there are many Ingush families. Among those who had access to the circle of the great autocrat Alexander II, there was adequately represented the name of the cornet, and then the staff-captain of the Black Sea convoy division of the Life Guards of His Imperial Majesty Malsaga Utsigovicha Dolgieva. The king admired him for his exceptional moral qualities.
Dolgiev earned national fame, unquestioned authority and respect. In a personal meeting with the emperor, he passed on various "petitions" on behalf of the Ingush people. The materials of the Central Historical Archive in St. Petersburg are evidence this. The favor and attention with which the capital treated Nazran delegations and their requests were largely dictated by considerations of high diplomacy and politics. But the time cannot be discounted and the personal factor.
In 1840, Imam Shamil was extending his influence to various areas of the North Caucasus. However, he failed to extend the regime to the Imamate Chechens and Ingush. Not everyone supported the idea of jihad. In April 1840 Shamil made three attempts to win over the Ingush, who occupied a strategically prime area from Vladikavkaz to Sunzha. But it came to nothing, so the great Imam and his army made punitive expeditions within Sunzha and Nazranka.
In this difficult time, Malsag Dolgiev was entrusted with the right to conduct tough negotiations with Shamil's imamate on behalf of the royal administration. He did a lot to solve the problems of the Russian-Caucasian War. He died in this field.
In 1857, a small squad of representatives of the Ingush - Malsag Utsigovich Dolgiev, Eddie Gaytievich Malsagov, Yanarskhan Chozhevich Khashagulgov, Halmurza Dolgiev - was sent to Shamil to conduct peace negotiations. But on the way between Amara and Goyty, in a forest, they met a squad of Shamil, under the command of Saaduly Byatigova. The Ingush requested to let them meet Imam, the head company officer refused and threatened them with death. "Laughing at my disgrace as a prisoner, I prefer Nazran mothers crying over my grave," Malsag told Naib. Ingush parliamentarians were forced to fight with one and a half hundred bayonets. The murder of the peace delegation shook the whole of Ingushetia and aggravated the "anti-Shamil" mood.
Malsag Dolgiev was buried with full military honors in the family cemetery near the ancient brick factories in Vladikavkaz. Between the villages of Gojty and Atagi, there is a location which was referred to as "the place of death of a brave warrior, proud Malsag Nazranovsky
