From the very beginning of the preparations for the Sochi Olympics the organizers have repeated that these Games are going to be the most innovative yet. According to the president of the organizing committee, Dmitry Chernyshenko, innovative decisions are being made in all possible spheres - from construction to stadium management.
In September an innovative exposition devoted to the preparations for the Sochi Olympics was presented in Shanghai. The exposition was continuing the main topic of the exhibition, which was a modern attitude to urban development and new methods for decreasing the impact on the environment.
One side of the exhibition of the first Winter Games for Russia was the latest technological achievements - a 152' plasma screen showed the best episodes of the Vancouver Games. There was a possibility to "fly" over the future Olympic facilities with the help of special glasses and 3D technology.
At the same time, the ideas of the organizers were demonstrated in Sochi itself - at the 9th International Investment Forum "Sochi-2010", at which the use of "green" methods and realization of ecological programmes were discussed.
Then the participants of the forum went to lay a capsule, containing an appeal to future generations, in the foundations of the Central Stadium, which will be finished one year before the Olympics begin. This arena will be the place for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games. Innovative technologies are also used in this project.
There are special seats for disabled people at the stadium, the elevators are specially constructed.
